IMAGO - Cartoon and Graphic Competition
As sponsor of the IMAGO Comics and Graphics competition, it was a unique opportunity to meet the talents of non-professional cartoonists who interpreted the competition theme with their works: "The roots of the past are the key to the future".
The competition closed with the awarding of 3 artists for each category, prizes given by the designer Maurizio Ponticello.
Niccolò Persichetti and Michela Di Cecio received a special Borciani Bonazzi award.
 
International School of Comics of Naples
The leading brushes of COMICON were the UNICO ranges and the silver hexagonal line; those series of synthetic fibre brushes had excellent reviews from the International School of Comics in Napoli.

The director Giuliano Monni and the teacher Fabio Abbreccia defined themselves as true fans of Borciani Bonazzi brushes, of which they appreciate the excellent quality and the very good value for money; that’s why they recommend Borciani Bonazzi brushes to all their students.

It is of great relevance that the artists of the International School of Comics choose to use all brushes from the Unico series for the realization of a unique work.

In the digital age, in order to distinguish themselves and win the comparison with the works created with graphic programs, works must literally live their physical space, and that’s why it is necessary to play with all techniques.

According to the teachers of International School of Comics of Napoli, the versatility of Borciani Bonazzi UNICO brushes allows artists to "play" with a mixture of techniques within the same work.

COMICON KIDS area
In the area of COMICON KIDS, small budding talents dedicated themselves with pure commitment and creativity to the creation of doodles and mandalas full of details and colourful designs.
To give life to those artistic expressions, the little artists used the Borciani Bonazzi Ecoecol series, particularly suitable for hobbies, the Italia 1951 series, and the Silver series with the hexagonal handle, all of which selected in small sizes, perfect for detailing.
Extremely resistant, those brushes guaranteed fun and satisfaction to all visitors in the area during the entire Festival.
 
The Live Performance concert with Foja and Celestino
One of the most exciting moments of COMICON was the concert in the ETES Arena Flegrea. Famous musicians of the calibre of Celestino and Foja performed live while some cartoonists made works inspired by the music. A performance where figurative and musical arts merged in a very engaging moment for the public, the artists and the organisers.

The cartoonists Barbara Baldi, Giorgio Pontrelli, Carmine di Giandomenico, Ausonia, Alessandro Rak and Tuono Pettinato, all chose the brushes of the UNICO Mangusta series, while creating their works inspired by the notes of Foja and Celestino. 

The twentieth edition of COMICON closed its doors after four exciting days and Borciani Bonazzi would like to thank the organisers, the International Comics School of Napoli, the retailer Gino Ramaglia and all visitors who showed appreciation, enthusiasm and passion for our fine arts brushes.

Borciani Bonazzi will be a partner of the 2018 edition of the IMAGO competition, entitled "The Roots of the Past are the Key to the Future". A competition for non-professional artists, who will represent the theme with a drawing or a comic strip, exhibited and awarded during the Salon.
 
We will also be a partner of Comicon Napoli in the Comicon KIDS area as well as in the LIVE Performance area, where the authors Alberto Ponticelli, Infernal Workshop, Squaz, Ausonia, Akab, Tiziano Angri, will hold a live drawing session for the entire audience of COMICON.
